What is a testimonial?

A virtual testimonial is the virtualization of a person, a computer-generated figure consisting exclusively of algorithms and pixels. It has a realistic humanoid appearance. It is used to represent real customers, prospective customers, employees or other relevant target groups or real people in images, videos or animations. They are also referred to as virtual characters, fictional characters, virtual characters, metahumans, 3D characters, 3D avatar brand ambassadors or virtual brand ambassadors.

A virtual testimonial fulfills the same task as a classic testimonial. It acts as a kind of letter of recommendation or testimonial that is intended to build trust in a company, a product, a service, etc. and, in the best case, an emotional bond. The aim is to build trust and, in the best case, an emotional bond. This is because potential and existing customers are inclined to believe and trust statements and recommendations that come from testimonials – including virtual testimonials.

What is a virtual testimonial?

The Virtual Testimonial answers questions that have not yet been asked. Like: Does this product work at all? Or how does the product work? Is it worth investing in the product or the machine? And so on. Buyers want to know if a company or product is trustworthy and credible. A virtual testimonial (metahuman) builds an emotional bridge and elevates products to an emotional level. People base their decisions on emotions, not just logic.

Companies that appeal to their potential customers on an emotional level are better able to engage in a sales process. We know that people who feel good are more likely to buy.

Now there are virtual influencers. Unlike virtual testimonials, these can only be found on social media. Virtual influencers should/want to create their own identity and community. They live their ‘virtual’ lives on social networks and interact with their followers. They see themselves as independent of a brand and tend to work with different brands/companies. In contrast, a virtual testimonial is only there for one company, one brand, one product. As an avatar or meta-human, he or she is an exclusive brand ambassador.

Why do you need a good story?

The heart of a testimonial is always the story behind it. This is because stories engage our brains in a unique way, building an emotional bridge to the content. We are trained to think in terms of stories.

That’s why we use testimonials in combination with stories to engage potential customers and create an emotional connection. A testimonial is all the more effective and emotional the more prospects and potential customers can experience the feeling of a product and environment.

What makes virtual testimonials interesting?

With a virtual testimonial, we don’t need a real person to make that connection. We can do it with a digital character, a fictional, computer-generated figure. These virtual avatar brand ambassadors, not to be confused with virtual influencers, are always there when we need them – tailored to the brand. They are in top form every day. They don’t need to eat, drink or take a break. Virtual brand ambassadors / avatar brand ambassadors only need to be created once and are then always available to us in the same perfect way. For example, you may be familiar with the Trigema monkey. This talking monkey is a virtual brand ambassador. A virtual testimonial can be any form of fictional character / avatar, whether human, animal or alien. The key is to find the right testimonial, the one that best fits your brand.

Testimonials are always eye-catching. Placed next to a product, they enhance it emotionally. Studies have shown that including a testimonial significantly increases sales.

You have complete control over virtual testimonials and the compelling stories they tell. A realistic virtual testimonial also allows you to bring your ideas to market faster – including launching marketing campaigns before product launch. You gain flexibility. There is no need for time-consuming photo or video shoots. Poses, movements and statements can be changed and adapted at any time. Close-ups, different angles, images for different product variants and optimal results are the result.

An avatar as a brand ambassador

Let’s take a look at buyer personas. Your virtual testimonial / 3D avatar can actively address all the pain points and tell the story that suits the target audience. For example, present your products and machines as part of a case study. You don’t need a real person, model or actor. Your virtual testimonial can describe in detail a success story with a direct link to your product. The testimonial / 3D avatar can be tailored to the exact target audience or specific demographics (age, gender, ethnicity) of the buyer personas you are targeting. Speak directly to your ideal or typical customer.

Talk about animation: Avatar brand ambassadors as virtual testimonials can be controlled in real time, with almost infinite variations of facial features and skin colours, as well as a multitude of different options for hair, eyes, make-up and teeth. Today we have a huge range of faces and unlimited body types for a multitude of characters in different outfits.

The faces and bodies of the virtual characters are fully rigged so that the entire virtual character (3D avatar) can be animated, either by keying or using a performance capture solution. This allows us to capture the individual movements of a real person in our studio, which are then transferred to the virtual testimonial.

Use a virtual testimonial to take your company’s marketing and branding to the next level.
